Nestled discreetly within Wishbone & Flynt, Fort Worth’s best-kept secret, the Amber Room stands as a speakeasy-esque cocktail lounge, captivating patrons with its hidden allure. Guests can enter through a large gold door dotted with several door knobs and handles near the restaurant bar, or through an unmarked wooden door on Bryan Avenue.

Once inside, the ambiance unfolds with exposed brick walls, retro lounge chairs, luxurious rugs, and vibrant jewel-toned drapery. The full bar boasts classic libations, seasonally-crafted sips, and shareable plates from the Wishbone & Flynt kitchen. Noteworthy drinks include the Aztec Old Fashioned with chocolate bitters, rye whiskey, and cherry syrup, as well as the Scarlett Letter with mezcal, aperol, green chartreuse, and fresh lime.

While the Prohibition Era may be a thing of the past, the allure of clandestine bars still adds a thrilling dimension to a nocturnal adventure. The Amber Room, named after the original one lost during World War II, is a cocktail sanctuary that effortlessly blends sophistication with comfort. Discovering this hidden haven becomes a playful challenge, with patrons entering through the restaurant and navigating a curtain-laden maze.

The original goal was to have a hidden gem for people to retreat, have a nice craft cocktail without any pretentiousness.

The entrance to the lounge is concealed behind a door adorned with over 20 knobs, leading visitors into a softly illuminated room where they can savor signature whiskey cocktails. The room’s ambiance draws inspiration from Moroccan and Old English aesthetics, offering a blend of contemporary and classic elements.

Seating options range from classic bar stools to vintage velvet couches, surrounded by exposed brick walls adorned with portraits, mirrors, and decor reflecting another era. Although whiskey-based, the bar is transitioning to include tequila, featuring signature drinks like the Betsy Price and the Happy Baggett, a tribute to the late Fort Worth developer.

There’s was nothing like it in the South Main Village for craft cocktails, it’s a completely different space, a different mentality and ideology.
